Drawing hands can be challenging no matter their position, and that’s true for even a simple gesture like praying hands.
However, it can be much easier if you know what to do, and with the proper guidance, you can learn how to draw praying hands!
This guide in front of you is exactly the guide you need to learn how! We hope you enjoy working on this step-by-step tutorial on how to draw praying hands!
How to Draw Praying Hands
Step 1
To begin this guide to drawing praying hands, let’s start with the hand closest to us as the spectator.
For this first step, we will use some curved lines. This starts at the bottom of the wrist, curves up slightly, and then wraps around to form the tip of the thumb.
Then use two more long, curved lines for the first two fingers of your hand. That’s all there is to this step, so let’s move on to step 2!
Step 2
You’ve already drawn a pair of fingers, so for this next part of your praying hands, you have to repeat what you did in the previous step!
There will be two more fingers in this step, and the remaining fingers will get shorter and shorter over time.
Finally, use another curved line for your palm. It’s okay for this hand for now, but we’ll add some details in one of the following steps!
Step 3
Before we move on to drawing the second hand, we will draw the sleeve in this step of our tutorial on how to draw praying hands.
This step should be much easier for you as you will draw a relatively simple shape.
To draw this sleeve, you’ll use some rectangular shape, except the edges are a bit more angular and rounded. This will go to the base of the hand you finished drawing in the previous step. You’re good to go if you’ve seen it in our reference image!
Step 4
Good news: you’ve already overcome the most challenging part of your praying hands drawing!
Drawing the first hand was the most challenging part, and since we can’t see much of the other hand due to the angle, it will be a lot easier.
For this second hand, use some simple curved lines to make the palm and fingers visible from this angle.
That’s all, so we can add some final details before we color your praying hands design.
Step 5
For this part of our guide on drawing praying hands, we will add some final details and elements before the last step.
Before adding finer details, draw the other sleeve the second hand! It will look very similar to the first one you drew, as shown in the reference image.
When you’re done, move on to the final details! The reference image will help you draw, and we’ll add a few lines to the knuckles of each hand. This only helps the hands look more realistic.
So you can draw a couple of nails on the tip of each finger of the hand closest to us. With that, you are ready to move on! But before that, you can add as many details as you want.
Those extra details are up to you, and you can do everything from adding a background to drawing inspirational text. It’s up to you, so let your creativity run wild and see what happens!
Step 6
This sixth and final step of our guide on drawing praying hands is about bringing them to life with some fantastic colors.
We’ve kept the colors a little muted, but this is a step where you can take over and use your creativity to incorporate all the colors you love! You can also create some thematic and stylistic images by using bright colors.
It’s also a lot of fun to bring these colors to life using your favorite artistic means! There’s a wide variety of artistic media to use, so have fun with your creativity while experimenting.
